Tab Collector support

Help with Tab Collector, listed on the Mac App Store as "Smart Tab Collector". Last updated October 2026.

What does Tab Collector do?

  • Save: save the current tab, several tabs selected with Command-click, or a whole window, into a collection. You can save and keep the tabs open, or save and close them. You can also create an empty collection.
  • Name: give a collection a name, or leave it blank for an automatic one.
  • Restore: open a collection in a new window or in the same window, or click one saved tab to open it. A collection stays saved after you restore it.
  • Manage: add tabs to a collection, delete a collection, and search collection names, tab titles and addresses. Deleting asks for confirmation.
  • Full-page view: browse collections by year and month, rename a collection, and edit or delete single addresses.
  • Right-click menu: save and close a tab, a window or the selected tabs into one of your first 10 collections or a new one.
  • Keyboard: Command-Shift-B reopens your last collection.
  • Details: pinned tabs are remembered and pinned again on restore, and a duplicate address is saved once per collection.
  • Storage: on this Mac by default, or synced across devices through Safari. Export, import and "Wipe All Data" are in the settings.

If something is not on this list, Tab Collector does not do it today.

What does Tab Collector not do?

  • It is for Safari on a Mac. There is no version for iPhone or iPad, and none published for Chrome, Firefox or Edge.
  • It does not lock a collection against deletion.
  • It does not work with Safari's tab groups.
  • It cannot reorder collections or move a tab from one collection to another.
  • It does not save tabs automatically or on a schedule.

What does Tab Collector cost?

$1.99, paid once when you download it. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.

This is the US price as of October 2026. The App Store shows the price in your currency.

How do I turn the extension on?

Install Tab Collector from the Mac App Store and open it once. Then open Safari, go to Safari > Settings, choose Extensions, and tick Tab Collector.

Is there a limit on tabs or collections?

Not in the default mode, Device Only, which stores everything on your Mac.

If you turn on Sync Across Devices, the limits are 100 collections, 1,000 tabs in total, and 50 tabs in one collection.

Do my collections sync between Macs?

Only if you turn on Sync Across Devices in the extension's settings. Syncing then uses Safari's own sync, not a server of ours.

Where is my data?

In Safari on your Mac. Tab Collector has no account, does not contact any server, and does not read your browsing history. It reads your tabs only when you choose to save them.

How do I export or back up my collections?

Open the extension, go to Saved Collections, and choose Export. Safari does not let extensions download files, so choose Open Backup Data and press Command-S to save it.

Import reads a backup file. It replaces your current collections; it does not add to them.

How do I delete all my data?

Open the extension, click the gear to open Settings, and under Danger Zone choose Wipe All Data, then Delete Everything.

Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Command-Shift-B reopens your last collection.

Why were some tabs not saved?

Safari's own pages and extension pages cannot be saved.

How do I restore my purchase?

Download the app again from the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account. You are not charged twice for an app you have bought.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.

Which devices does it work on?

Safari on a Mac with macOS 10.14 or later. There is no iPhone or iPad version. The extension is in English.
